We Head for the Davis Mountains

We met these two guys in a bar in Alpine who did not seem all that friendly when they learned that we were from Michigan -- so we decided to leave town. *
We checked into Davis Mountains Texas State Park.  Our RV site has full hook-ups including cable TV with 51 channels.  The cable TV is unusual in Texas (or any) state park.
The park has a large Indian Lodge with 39 rooms that can be rented - as well as the Black Bear Restaurant.  The lodge has been remodeled, but was originally built by the CCC in the early 1930's.

Like many other Texas state parks, that we have seen, this park has two bird blinds set up to attract native birds.  There is a comfortable room to quietly watch and photograph the wildlife that shows up.  Note the running water, as well as the bird feeders that are refilled every morning.

*  "Lonesome Dove" is one of the best Western Movies ever made.
