After our Saturday museum visit in Sulphur, we did some shopping in Lake Charles and then took a few back roads south of town then west back to our RV park.
One of the roads we discovered took us right past a couple of huge refineries as you can see in these pictures. They were spewing large clouds of vapor but the odors were not strong to the smell.
We had seen many refineries at a distance, but did not know you could get this close. We found out that these industries pour a lot of money into the local community to keep the people happy who live close by. There were beautiful baseball fields, parks, public swimming pools, and sport complexes in this part of Louisiana.
(Almost no bicycle paths, however.....bummer!)
