The Salt Springs Area

Salt Springs is a natural spring rising from vertical fissures (cracks) deep within the earth.  The presence of sodium and other minerals gives the waters in the spring a slight salty taste hence the name.  The spring is the start of a creek that runs into Lake George and has been developed into a beautiful swimming area with a decorative wall and concrete steps going into the spring.

If the weather had been warmer, Bill would have taken a swim.

The water stays the same temperature year around.

Next to the spring on private land was this old abandoned haunted resort that looked like a setting from a Stephen King story.

This sign posted near the spring makes one stay aware of wildlife.  The campground has all bear-proof garbage containers because Black Bears are common in the Ocala National Forest.
