On The Road to Nowhere

The desert around Tucson is a pleasant and very different environment in which to hike and explore, but the secondary roads in Pima County are the worse we have seen since leaving Michigan.  They are narrow, rough, full of patched holes and poorly maintained.  The RV parks were nothing to brag about either!
After three days we drove southwest down Route 86 deep into the Tohono O'Odham Nation Indian Reservation.  Along the way we spotted something atop this mountain above..
It turned out to be the Kitt Peak National Observatory in the Quinlan Mountains.  We did not drive up to visit.
We just kept cruising through the picturesque desert.

Finally this sign along the road told us that we had gone far enough.
We stopped in Ajo, Arizona and got a site for three days at the Shadow Ridge RV Park.

Flowers are in bloom here and the weather is now in the 70's.  It is pleasant to never have to worry about rain when planning outside activities.
