A Plantation Tour and American Cruise Lines

On Sunday we left the Intercontinental Hotel on a shuttle bus to the Mississippi River docks in Memphis.
We were dropped off to board our ship, above, that is the newest ship of American Cruise Lines.
(More about that below)

After lunch we got on a bus for our first shore excursion.  We were driven about 45 minutes out of New Orleans to the Oak Alley Plantation.  We were given a guided tour of the house and saw a short film about sugar cane growing as well.

Here are the former slave quarters.

This road coming to the house is why the plantation got its name: Oak Alley.

Here are the buses that take us to excursions.  They actually follow the ship up the river and transport us to our different stops in each port.  Just like our ship, the buses are almost brand new.

Here is our stateroom on the fourth floor.  All state rooms have a balcony.
Our ship, the American Harmony, was built in 2019 in Salisbury, Maryland.
It can hold 190 passengers.
It is 345 feet long and cruises at 15 MPH.
We are now almost to Baton Rouge which is the capital of Louisiana.
American Cruise Lines has impressed us so far.
