The Border Wall - Part 3

Helicopters are a common sight here in Mission, Texas along the Rio Grande and border wall.

We hear them night and day as they patrol.

The helicopters are so frequent that often when we are outside we do not even bother to look up as they fly overhead.
Also scattered along the border are these towers that have some kind of radar to detect movements both night and day.

We still see border patrol vehicles occasionally dragging tires to detect footprints the following day.  We do not understand why they would do it just inside the wall, but it happens.

Part 4 to follow.

The Border Wall - Part 2

Stationed about every mile, or so, along our southern border are now National Guardsmen/women with military vehicles like you see below.

There are always at least two personnel with each vehicle and they stay in position all day.

The papers down here say that the soldiers are part of the governor's "Operation Lone Star" to combat illegal immigration as well as the illegal drug trade.  Some papers say Governor Abbott has deployed 10,000 state troopers and National Guard units to the border.

The Border Wall - Part 1

Many mornings this is the scene across the road from our RV lot here at Bentsen Palm Village Resort:

The parked cars belong to construction workers who are building the border wall down here south of Mission, Texas.

Just down the trail road north of the state park are some of their building materials and heavy-duty equipment.

As you can see above, it takes large machinery to put the wall together, plus skilled operators.

The work continues on most days when it is not raining.

The wall is not continuous and, so far, we cannot see any value or protection that it is providing.

More to come.....

Margaritaville Right Down the Road

On another one of his exploratory bicycle journeys down here in South Texas, Bill came across this unique RV park get-a-way that drew his attention:

He just had to stop to get a closer look.  It was tucked back in the rear of an older Mission RV park and he wished he could see it on a busy festive occasion.

We doubt that a rich guy like Jimmy Buffett owns it, but just maybe he would approve.  One could almost hear the echos of reggae music and steel drums.

A Good Night of Gambling

Last night, February 5, 2022, at the Saturday night Card Bingo event in the Clubhouse Karen showed she had the right stuff.

Not only did she split a dime pot with a few other winners, but indeed she won one of the three dollar pots all to herself!  $42 is nothing to sneeze at, and she came home a happy camper.

Today You Get to see a "Pretty" Masculine Vehicle

There are so many beautiful shiny  pickups on the roads today that it seems difficult to tell them apart.

However - this one below is a real "looker" and stands out in the crowd, in Bill's opinion.

It is a new Chevrolet, and fancy indeed!

Who Says Ladies' Vehicles Can't Look Pretty!

Golf carts are seen frequently in  RV parks in Texas,  but it is rare to see one painted like this:

Pretty snazzy right?  Well, how about this fancy bicycle Bill saw at the swimming pool the other day?

If the ladies like to ride around the park in style - they might as well go for it!
