Deep In the Heart of Texas

Thursday we drove the short distance from Belton to Austin, TX.  We found a secluded site in the McKinney Falls State Park just outside of Austin, and registered for four days.  Park has many hiking and biking trails as well as native wildlife.  We plan to explore the park and visit a few major attractions in Austin in the days ahead.  Very few campers.

Hello Lone Star State - Day 7

Today we cruised into Texas and right past Dallas and Ft. Worth heading south.  We stopped in Waco to visit the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum.  We thought it was excellent.  There was a 30 minute introductory film and many great displays.  There were hundreds of guns, pictures, and numerous pieces of equipment used by the Texas Rangers.  We then continued south and found a good RV park in which to stay and do a couple loads of laundry in Belton, TX.  Temperatures tomorrow are going into the 60's.

Wed. south to Texas leaving Oklahoma behind.

Buckhorn Campground in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area in southern OK was huge, ultra modern and comfortable with a very large lake.  We were one of only three campers.  We saw robins, bluebirds, starlings, buzzards and road-kill armadillos.  Leaving tomorrow for Texas. High temps in the upper 50's.
